Who doesn’t love bacon? Okay, not everybody, but a lot of people sure do, and Maple Leaf Foods wanted to build a fun Web site with a community-based aspect to promote their bacon products called “The Republic of Bacon”. Pixelpusher hired me to write the site’s XHTML, CSS and jQuery. While the site is 85% Flash, the project presented some unique CSS challenges. Firstly, fixing their global navigation to the bottom of the page required two solutions; one elementary one for 99% of all browsers and a unique approach for IE6. The English/French homepage sidescrolling animations required a lot of tweaking to make sure none of the top or the bottom of the animation were being cut off.
